RTIC reviews the latest and most innovative traffic management and public transport systems advances on the road network, through the application of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).

 

Since 2008 RTIC has been produced jointly as the IET Road Transport Information and Control Conference and the ITS United Kingdom Annual Members’ Conference.

Local Authority guide to emerging technology (logo)

Handbook launch: "Local Authority guide to emerging transport technology"

 

 

The IET and ITS(UK) joint task force are currently working on producing a handbook, “Technology to enhance local transport” explaining the potential benefits of emerging and existing technologies to Local Authorities.

 

 

This handbook will be launched at RTIC 2014 where the contributors (Local Authorities and technologists) will talk about its content.

 

 

Autonomous vehicles

 

The government has announced that it wants to make the UK a world centre for the development of driverless cars.

 

Milton Keynes is already experimenting with driverless pods.

 

Dr. Maxime Flament, Head of Sector SafeMobility, ERTICO will give the European perspective on Autonomous vehicles.

 

 

Best paper prizes

 

The judges will look for relevance, universal applicability, innovation, value for money and benefits to citizens.

 

  • Best Local Authority paper

This prize will be awarded to the best paper written and presented by a Local Authority Officer.

 

  • Best commercial paper

This prize will be awarded to the best paper written and presented by a commercial organisation.
