Travel awards

 

If you would like to broaden your professional experience through undertaking a study tour, working in industry or attending a conference then why not apply for one of the IET Travel Awards?  

12 awards of £500 are available annually with two awards being made every second month.  Applications must be made at least two months before your date of travel and must be supported by 

  • documentary evidence of the travel intention (e.g. invitation from the conference organiser) 
  • confirmation that a visa has been sought (if required)
  • a reference.  The reference form should be forwarded to your referee who should complete and send it to awards@theiet.org    

If your application is successful you will be required to submit a professional report of up to 1000 words on your experiences within one month of the completion of your trip. 

Please note that your application will not be accepted if any of the above have not been received by the deadline.

Awards available

I J Shelley Travel Grant (6 awards available @ £500)

The I J Shelley Travelling Fund is intended to assist members of the IET to undertake international travel in order to broaden their professional experience perhaps via a study tour, through working in industry or by participating in an international conference or seminar, preferably in communications engineering.  The awards may also assist with travel associated with the presentation of papers at prestigious international conferences, or objectives, which relate to manufacturing techniques. Preference is given to young professionals who, at the early stage of their professional careers, are unable to readily find assistance from conventional sources.

 

IET Travel Grant (6 awards available @ £500)

Enables IET members to travel internationally to broaden their professional experience perhaps by undertaking a study tour, by working in industry or by participating in an international conference or seminar.
