Workshops

Two independent workshops will also run alongside the CIRED Seminar 2008: SmartGrids for Distribution.

Fenix stakeholders’ advisory group workshop
www.fenix-project.org

Fenix will be holding its first workshop of the Fenix stakeholders’ advisory group during the afternoon of
Tuesday 24 June 2008 for selected invited attendees.

Fenix is an integrated project sponsored by the EC which brings together utilities, manufacturers and universities.
It aims to enhance the integration of dispersed energy sources into the grid through different aggregation concepts.

DERlab Grid Inverstors workshops
www.der-lab.net/workshops.html

DERlab will hold the first of a series of workshops on Grid Invertors on Wednesday 25 June. There are four main topics which will be discussed in parallel working groups:

  1. Behaviour under fault conditions: fault ride through, loss-of-mains protection, network restoration (e.g. black start capability), interaction with network protection systems

  2. Energy management: design parameters for the complete system (generation, load, storage, grid coupling), operation modes and their management strategies, congestion management

  3. Communication and control: harmonised communication protocols, bi-directional communication, agent technologies, grid monitoring, Virtual Power Plants

  4. Ancillary services: Improvement of power quality, balancing power, demand side services

The discussions of the groups will be presented in a common closing session. The outcome of the workshops will be made available for all participants and will serve as a basis for the discussion in standardisation committees.

Participation is free. For registration and logistic details, please visit
