Annual engineering research prize of £300,000

The A F Harvey Research prize, worth £300,000, is named after Dr A F Harvey who bequeathed a generous sum of money to the IET for a trust fund to be set up in his name after his death.

The terms of the trust specify that the money is to be used for the furtherance of scientific research into the fields of medical, microwave, laser or radar engineering.

The research prize search and selection committee searches for potential candidates from around the world for the prize, drawing on wide international networks.

The committee draws up a short-list of candidates from whom additional information is requested for further detailed consideration. Since 2011, the award has helped exceptional candidates across the world achieve further research in their designated fields.
