Biography:
Andrew Barclay graduated from the University of Manchester, UK, with a degree in Physics. He joined the Dielectrics section of the Central Electricity Research Laboratories, UK, working on early failure of overhead line insulators. Later, with National Power, UK, he worked in modelling of partial discharge degradation processes in machine insulation. He moved to the High Voltage Technology Centre of BICC Cables as a High Voltage Engineer, developing test and measurement techniques applicable to high voltage cable systems, especially in partial discharge measurement. Later developments led to partial discharge testing and on-line monitoring of numerous installed cable systems and to UKAS accreditation of the Laboratory to IEC 60060. He is now Senior Test Engineer in the Cable Systems Engineering Department of Balfour Beatty Power Networks Ltd., UK. |
