E ink provides the best digital reading experience.  It expands the performance of reflective displays and brings electronic paper performance to the next level, to move from ebooks to eNewspapers and eMagazines. It is already used widely including the amazon Kindle and is well suited for a range of devices, such as room thermostats, wireless devices and health and fitness displays.

Scope of category

Entries to the IET Electronics Innovation Award are welcomed from all organisations: universities, clients, consulting engineers, contractors, suppliers and component manufacturers.

 

The Electronics category welcomes innovations at any stage of development. Nominations should come from (but are not limited to):

  • A product, proof of concept, prototype or piece of intellectual property which consists of a significant amount of new electronic hardware design (analogue, digital or both). For example:
    • a semiconductor design or piece of semiconductor intellectual property
    • a new design based on programmable or configurable components such as Field Programmable Gate Arrays
    • embedded microprocessors or digital signal processors
    • or a novel new system architecture based on standard components
  • Keywords: semiconductor, analogue, digital, RF, mixed-signal, FPGA, hardware design, semiconductor intellectual property

 

Please note

This category does not include new software tools for the design of electronics or a system built using embedded software applications running on standard off the shelf hardware (e.g. an embedded PC). Such nominations should be submitted to for consideration in the Software in Design category.
