Welcome note from Jonathon Chambers, Committee Chairman
"The conference organising committee for ISP 2013 was delighted by the response to the call for contributions. Some 80 extended abstracts were submitted from across the globe, from which we have selected 55 works to be extended to full conference papers.
"These decisions were based on at least two independent reviews and we applied a hard cut off to ensure a quality and informative event.
"We are particularly pleased that the oral paper sessions are being led by a large percentage of industrialists.
"The authors of selected conference papers may be invited to extend their work into regular full paper submissions for a special issue to appear in the IET Signal Processing journal, and it is expected that accepted full conference papers will appear on IEEE Xplore. All authors should therefore aim to achieve near journal quality presentation in their conference papers. ISP 2013 will be a unique opportunity for the UK signal processing community to engage with academic and industrial engineers and researchers from across the globe.
"It will also be a precursor for the launch event of the new University Defence Research Collaboration in Signal Processing which will be held at the same venue on Wednesday 4 December – further details will appear on the University Defence Research Collaboration in Signal Processing website. Don't miss out on this special event, register now!"
