Professor Sadagopan

Professor Sadagopan, Director of IIIT-Bangalore, is a product of Madras University, India and Purdue University, USA. He taught for 25+ years at IIT Kanpur, IIM Bangalore, IIT Madras and IIIT-Bangalore in addition to short teaching assignments at RUTGERS, USA and AIT, Bangkok. He has wide research interests that include Operations Research, Multi-criteria optimization Decision Theory, Simulation, Enterprise Computing, Programming Languages, Databases, Multimedia and e-Governance.

He has authored seven books, several book chapters and papers. He is also a Fellow of IEE (UK) and Computer Society of India. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, ACM and AIS.

Prof. Sadagopan consults widely across different industry segments (Auto, Manufacturing, Banking, IT and Social Sector) and lectures extensively at corporations, industry events and Universities in North America, South America, Europe, Middle East, Asia, Australia and New Zealand on all aspects of IT.

He serves on the boards of Bharat Electronics, Neyveli Lignite Corporation and Indian Renewable Energy Agency and IIIT-Bhubaneshwar, IIIT-Delhi and IBAB; earlier he was also on the Board of Bank of India, NMDC, VisualSoft, Megasoft, Informatics and Shawman Software. Prof. Sadagopan is a Member of Karnataka Knowledge Commission, Chief Minister's Vision Group on IT, NASSCOM Regional Council and ISA Executive Council. He is the Chair of IEEE Computer Society, Bangalore Chapter and a Member of ACM India Council. Currently (till 2011) he is also a Member of WWW Conference Committee (W3CC).

He writes extensively for the popular press; he is a featured Columnist for Times of India (the largest circulated English newspaper in the world).

I. Vijaya Kumar (IVK) is CTO of Wipro’s IT business. His responsibilities include Technology Strategy Planning, Innovation Management and Technology alliance with Industry and Academic forums.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in communications engineering and has over 20 years experience in telecom & embedded systems domain. His experience spans across defense & aerospace communications and control systems, telecom carrier switches, IP telephony and wireless applications.

He has represented Wipro in various technology, innovation and sustainability forums including World Economic Forum (WEF) and OECD.

His current interests include the exploration of new wireless devices, mathematical modeling of telecom networks, integration of IT systems and networks, physics of music and theory of fractals.

Dr. Nataraj Nagaratnam

Dr. Nataraj Nagaratnam
IBM Distinguished Engineer and CTO for Software Brands, IBM India Software Lab (ISL)

Dr. Nataraj Nagaratnam is an IBM Distinguished Engineer, and Chief Technology Officer for Software Brands at IBM India Software Lab. In his broader role at IBM, he drives cross brand integration & innovation projects in the IBM India lab.

He is also the Chief Security Architect for Identity Management and SOA Security in IBM, with responsibilities in driving Tivoli security product technical strategy and architecture in these areas.

During his career at IBM, he has also been the lead security architect for WebSphere Platform. He leads and participates in various open standards activities in standards organizations including OASIS, OpenID, JCP, WS-I, and GGF.

He has authored and coauthored numerous journal articles, papers, books and security specifications, including the book on “Enterprise Java Security” published by Addison Wesley. Nataraj received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Syracuse University in 1998.

Chintan Mehta

Chintan is leading New Products strategy for Yahoo! Emerging Markets. Prior to that he was responsible for the India Incubation “Cellar” in Bangalore for Yahoo! India R&D with a charter on enabling a rapid “Intrapreneurship” environment and framework and delivering breakthrough innovations to market.

Chintan has 16+ years of software development, management and leadership experience in building complex software products for diverse industries globally. At Yahoo! India R&D he has been responsible for product and engineering of several rapid innovation products focusing on Desktop Search, Advanced Products and Emerging Markets.

Starting in 1993 on the Microsoft Excel development team he was involved from the early inception of Microsoft's collaboration portal platform and Windows SharePoint Services. As an entrepreneur he consulted in designing a virtual practice portal complementing a real medical practice. He also led the development of the core software infrastructure and remote serviceability for Philips premium ultrasound systems.

He brings significant experience in web consumer products, desktop applications, collaboration portals, healthcare IT and mobile software. He has successfully managed both product and development teams and executed parallel development programs through complete development life cycles using both traditional and agile practices.

Chintan earned his MS in Computer Engineering from University of Texas at Austin, USA in 1993 and BE in Electrical Engineering from Sardar Patel University, Gujarat in 1991.

Ravishankar G

Ravishankar G

Ravishankar G is currently the Vice President and the Business manager of the Silicon IP group in Ittiam Systems, Bangalore. He brings in 23 years of Industry experience in VLSI, DSP and Multimedia domains. He is part of the founding team that started Ittiam systems in 2001. In Ittiam, Ravi has run business operations for the Multimedia group before moving on to lead the Silicon IP Business. Prior to Ittiam, Ravi was with Texas Instruments in India from 1986 until 2000. During his Tenure at TI, Ravi worked and held several positions in the areas of DSP design, DSP applications and Semiconductor Sales & Marketing before becoming the General Manager of the DSP Software Development systems group of TI in India.

He holds a Bachelors degree in Physics from University of Madras and an Engineering Degree in Electronics and Communication from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He also holds a post graduate diploma in IPR Law from National Law School, Bangalore.

Arun Bhardwaj

Arun has more than fifteen years of experience in the telecom and the IT industry. He has helped companies like Samsung and Lucent Technologies to establish new operations in different countries.

With the zeal to cross-pollinate learning, Arun has executed spectrum of roles in hardware design, software development, system architecture, product management, marketing and business development with companies like Dell, Motorola (in India), Samsung (in South Korea), and Lucent Technologies (in the USA).

Arun’s passion is to apply his multi-cultural global experience in identifying industry pain-points and driving creative solutions. His contributions have lead to innovations in products as well as in processes. He enjoys sharing his learning weaved into examples and stories with the audience.

Arun has a B.Tech degree in Electronics and Communication engineering and MBA in the Hi-Tech marketing. Arun is based out of Bangalore, India. His hobbies include motivational speaking, creative writing, and adventure travelling. He enjoys speaking on creativity and innovation, leadership, and personal brand development.

Lokesh.V is a Senior Executive – Innovation & Intellectual Property Management at Larsen & Toubro Limited, Mysore and a Member of All India Management Association - New Delhi, Product Development Management Association, Co-chair at Industry-Institute Panel CII Mysore, having over 17 Years of Industry Exposure.

At L&T he is responsible for Innovation & IPR Management as a part of Strategic Planning & Initiatives of the Electrical & Electronics Division. With a background of Mechanical Engineering, he had worked for 12 years in Mechanical Design & Development for its Medical Equipment and Systems at L&T. He also has a Masters degree in Commerce, Post Graduation in Business Administration from Symbiosis, Pune and Intellectual Property Law Rights from National Law School of India University. As a part of design team and having experience in new product development he has been responsible for building a culture of Innovation & Intellectual Property.

He has chaired and participated as speaker in several Innovation & IPR conferences & seminars and contributed to academia as guest faculty at several institutions like BITS-Pilani, Indian Institute of Management - Indore, International Institute of Information Management- Mysore, Indian Institute of Science,- Bangalore, National Institute of Technology-Surathkal, and several others.

He has published & presented Four National & Two International papers related to Innovation & Intellectual Property Rights and written several articles to journals and magazines.

He was also awarded as Winner – India Innovation Challenge 2008 at 4th India Innovation Summit – 2008 Organized by CII & Govt of Karnataka.

Padmanabhan Raghavan (Paddy) is a Co-founder & Chief Evangelist at 8KMiles.com (a company shortlisted for the NASSCOM Innovation award). 8KMiles offers a virtual outsourcing ecosystem connecting SMBs and Start-ups with Project Managers, Technology Professionals and Cloud Infrastructure. Paddy is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of 8KMiles’ Marketing and Technology teams.

Before starting 8KMiles, he was working with EMC Corporation in Bangalore in their Product Management group (for 4+ years). He joined EMC after completing his Masters degree from International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore.

He also has a Masters in Computer Applications from Madras University and a Bachelors degree in Mathematics from Loyola College, Chennai. Paddy had also worked in GE Capital, Caritor Systems and Barry-Wehmiller International Resources in their software development teams. He has won prizes for innovation in IIT-Madras and other places during his education. Paddy won the N. Rama Rao Entrepreneur Award at IIIT-B in 2009.

Sanjay Anandaram

Sanjay Anandaram has more than twenty years of experience as an entrepreneur, investor and corporate executive. As a passionate advocate of entrepreneurship and innovation, he advises, mentors and occasionally invests in startups. He’s also an advisor to early stage cross-border VC funds and serves on the board of a social entrepreneurship venture in Bangalore, India.

Sanjay is a founding partner of JumpStartUp Venture Fund, a pioneering early stage US-India cross border VC fund, set up in 2000 to invest in software, communications, services and embedded technologies. JumpStartUp’s portfolio includes companies such as Meru Networks, Hellosoft, Customer Asset (now part of the publicly listed Firstsource), Jareva (now part of publicly listed Symantec), Netkraft (now part of Adea) and Aaarohi (now part of publicly listed Emulex).

Prior to JumpStartUp, Sanjay co-founded Neta, a Silicon Valley VC backed internet personalization Software Company where he wrote the business plan, drove business development and was actively involved in its becoming a part of Infoseek/Disney. He returned to India in 1999 and started Venturekatalyst, India’s first e-magazine aimed at entrepreneurs.

Earlier, Sanjay was a sales and business development executive with Wipro (NYSE:WIT) for several years responsible for the creation and establishment of several pioneering businesses and cross-border business models involving both startup and F500 companies in the US, Africa & Middle East, Far East, and India. These included businesses in product engineering, healthcare SI, distribution and OEM sales.

Sanjay writes and speaks frequently on innovation and entrepreneurship.His column Indipreneur is published in The Financial Express, Outlook Money and on various blogs. He teaches Business Plan Workshop as an adjunct faculty at INSEAD business school, Singapore campus. He is a member of TiE Bangalore’s Leadership Committee where he co-chairs the Entrepreneurship Acceleration Programme, is a member of NASSCOM initiatives in innovation and entrepreneurship, an advisor to the NSRCEL at IIMB, and has been a working group member of the Indo-US Council on Entrepreneurship in Academia.

Savita Kini is a Marketing Manager in Cisco. In her current role, she is responsible for marketing solutions for Education and Public Sector vertical with specific focus on APAC & Emerging Markets. Savita brings over 13 years of experience in the technology industry which includes Research, Product Development, Product Marketing, Strategy and Business planning.

Savita joined Cisco, Bangalore in 2007 as a Product Marketing Manager where she contributed to the launch of next generation Unified Fabric products from Cisco for data centers. Before joining Cisco in Bangalore, Savita was a Marketing Manager for Communications & Storage Services business at MindTree Consulting, a leading IT Services company in Bangalore. She led strategic initiatives such as Productizing Services, new fiscal year roadmap for services, and Technology Commercialization across MindTree’s R&D Services business.

Prior to MindTree, Savita was an investment advisor with Tonse Telecom, a leading telecom consultancy in India. At Tonse, she evaluated startups in the mobile space, and co-authored the first ever study of the ‘Indian Wi-Fi’ market, launched in India by the Wi-Fi Alliance in February 2007. Savita also independently consulted and advised startups which included company in mobile VAS space, rural telemedicine startup, all based in Bangalore.

Savita started her industry career with Cisco in San Jose in 1998 as a Software Engineer. During her 7 year engineering tenure at Cisco, she worked on many successful products for Cisco in the ATM, Optical and Gigabit Switching space. Savita received her Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from University of Mumbai-INDIA, Masters in Computer Engineering from Texas A&M University-USA and MBA from Cornell University-USA.

Savita is active with The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE)-Bangalore, BarCamp Bangalore, and MobileMonday. She is visiting faculty in Marketing for Management Program for Women Entrepreneurs (MPWE) at IIM Bangalore since 2006 and an adjunct faculty at Indian Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIITB) in Fall 2009 for a course on Inventions & Innovations.In her spare time, Savita loves to travel, swim, read, hike in nearby mountains and experiment in gardening. She currently lives in Bangalore with her husband who runs a popular city magazine ‘Citizen Matters’.
