The 2nd Institution of Engineering and multimedia conference 2006 Technology will be held at the Institution of Engineering and Technology, Savoy Place, London, UK. The Institution is situated close to Covent Garden, with its variety of market stalls, shops and restaurants, and is within easy reach of London's famous Theatreland. Other tourist attractions, such as the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, St Paul's Cathedral and the British Airways London Eye, are easily accessible.

Travel
The Institution of Engineering and Technology is situated at Savoy Place, off Victoria Embankment near to Waterloo Bridge. Savoy Place is within easy walking distance of Charing Cross and Waterloo Mainline Stations as well as the following Underground Stations:

Charing Cross (Bakerloo and Northern Lines)
Covent Garden (Piccadilly Line)
Embankment (Bakerloo, Circle, District and Northern Lines)
Temple (Circle and District Lines)

A wide number of bus routes also serve the Institution, stopping in the Strand nearby.

Registrants are strongly advised not to travel by car, as the area is a restricted parking zone. There will be no parking available within Savoy Place. If travelling by car is unavoidable, the nearest National Car Parks are situated at St Martins Lane Hotel, 45 St Martins Lane, WC2N and Drury Lane. London Congestion Charge
Savoy Place is located within the congestion charge area of London. You can pay the congestion charge either in advance or on the day of travel. The charge is £8 if you pay by 10pm on the day of travel. An additional £2 surcharge will apply if you pay from 10.00pm until midnight on the day of travel.

Currency
The official currency of UK is £ sterling. Some larger shops may accept Euros.

Banking
Travellers' cheques can be cashed at numerous banks. There are ATM machines around. Some banks are closed on Saturdays and all day Sunday. There are foreign exchange booths at all major airports and Bureau De Change can be found anywhere in London.

Credit Cards
Commonly accepted credit cards in hotels, restaurants and shops are American Express, Visa, and Mastercard. Display signs are usually visible in all restaurants and shops indicating which cards they accept.

Electrical
The electrical voltage of the UK is 230 volts. Three pin adapter and can be found in most electrical stores.
