THE 2nd IET NEXT GENERATION NETWORKS CONFERENCE:
MIGRATION TO IP NETWORKS AND ARCHITECTURE

12 December 2007, Savoy Place, London

The Institution of Engineering and Technology Next Generation Networks Conference 2007 is the second event organised on this topic by the Institution’s Communications Technical and Professional Network, Europe’s largest comms engineering community with 24,000 members from 120 countries.

Next Generation Networks (NGNs) are being developed to take advantage of the opportunities promised by IP-based networks to fundamentally transform the cost base of Telco networks and create the future platform for rich media applications. Both fixed and mobile network operators are already beginning to demonstrate real reductions in operating costs through the exploitation of a single IP network for all services. Moreover, they are deploying NGNs to increase network capacity to support bandwidth-hungry services such as IPTV, creating a single platform for fixed–mobile convergence and introducing a Service Delivery Platform (SDP) which exploits an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) architecture to enable a more rapid and responsive introduction of new services.

This years conference will report on the progress towards realising the benefits of NGNs and look at future developments. Delegates will have an opportunity to discuss the latest developments with senior technology experts from Europe’s largest operators and manufacturers.

The Conference Will Provide You With:

  • the latest thoughts from communications industry experts on rapidly evolving NGN technology and its exploitation
  • views on strategy for networks from Europe’s leading operators
  • the most recent progress on realising the benefits of convergent IP infrastructure in real networks carrying bandwidth hungry applications such as IPTV
  • the latest update on the developments in the key areas of component technology including broadband access: fibre optics, broadband wireless access
  • how IP/MPLS and Ethernet are evolving to provide cost effective and flexible network platforms
  • how software based intelligence and capabilities such as authentication and location can support the rapid deployment of new customer services
