  • How to get to CERN

  • CERN Access Cards

    To access the CERN site, you will have to carry an official card (visitor's Access card).

    If you arrive on Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 18:00, or on Saturday between 09:00 and 17:00 you will be given this card at the Reception Desk in Bldg 33.

    At all other times you must go to the guard at Entrance B (Bldg 120) next to the bus terminus.


  • CERN Hostel Keys

    Hostel Reception Building 39 is open as follows:

    Monday to Friday, from 07:30 until 19:30
    Saturday and Sunday from 09:00 till 13:00

If you are arriving at CERN outside the opening hours of  the CERN Hostel, go directly to the CERN Main Entrance (Entrance B) and ask the guard. The keys are held in Building 120 just to the right of Entrance B.

 

Travelling By Air

Coming from the Geneva International Airport at Cointrin

Take the bus number 28 from outside the airport to Hôpital-La Tour (Meyrin). From Hôpital-La Tour take the number 56 bus to its terminus at the CERN entrance.

Ticket costs 3.00CHF (Ticket "Tout Genève" on the ticket machine). See Transports Publics Genevois web site for full details. The International Airport of Geneva is offering all arriving passengers a free "Tout Geneve" ticket, which is valid for 80 minutes. The ticket is available from the automatic ticket machine situated in the baggage reclaim zone and permits you to use public transport in the city of Geneva on the day of your arrival only, and must be accompanied by your boarding pass.

 

Travelling by Train

Coming from the Geneva railway station at Cornavin

Take the tram number 14 or 16 to Avanchet. From Avanchet take the number 56 bus marked to its terminus at the CERN entrance. Ticket costs 3.00CHF (Ticket "Tout Genève" on the ticket machine). See Transport Publics Genevois web site for full details.

 

Travelling by Car

(Coming from the Swiss side)

Follow "Aeroport", "Lyon" or "Meyrin". When in Meyrin head for "St. Genis" (which is just across the border in France). Before you get to St. Genis, CERN is on the left hand side of the "route de Meyrin", just before the border crossing.

(Coming from the French side)

Follow "Gex" or "St. Genis". When in St. Genis head for the border. CERN is on your right hand side immediately after the border crossing.
