Professor Mike Cherniakov
Professor Mike Cherniakov, PhD, DSc graduated Moscow Technical University, Russia. His career continued at the same university, where he was awarded a PhD in 1980 for research in radar signal processing and a DSc for the set of research in microwave systems in 1992. From 1978 till 1995 he was the founding head of Microwave Systems Laboratory and since 1993 he was promoted to professor. From 1995 to 2000 he was with University of Queensland, Australia and since 2000 he is with School of EECE, University of Birmingham.
Over his long service in radar research he was involved in various aspects of radar and remote sensing resech and development. His expertise includes anti aircraft and anti missile radars, active defence radars, radars with phased array, SAR, UWB and ground penetrating radars, passive coherent location based, bistatic and forward scatter radar and radar networks as well as other aspects of radar technology. He is the author of more than 200 publications, 15 patents and 3 books. Mike is the editor of radar section in Encyclopedia of Aerospace Engineering and is the editorial board member of IET Radar, Sonar and Navigation proceeding.
