Chairman - Peter Sheppard, Senior Safety Engineer and Validator, Bombardier Transportation UK Ltd
Peter has been involved in railway signalling equipment and systems for over 35 years and specialised as a safety engineer for over 28 years.
In that time he has been involved in the safety activities associated with some of the leading edge of railway developments including the first electronic interlocking on London Underground, Birmingham Maglev, the initial signalling system on DLR, the first significant introduction of axle counters to the UK (and many safety cases for subsequent installations), a moving block metro in China and constant road close time half barrier crossings to name but a few.
Peter has worked in the manufacturing industry and as a consultant including the role of Independent Safety Assessor. He has experience on mainline, metro systems and freight railways in the UK and abroad. He has been involved in the development of a railway software standard and was a trainer for Yellow Book.
He is currently a Senior Safety Engineer and Validator with Bombardier Transportation and as well as looking at safety improvements across Rail Control Solutions, he was the Safety Manager for the London Underground SSR project and is actively involved in supporting the safety activities associated with the Munich Automated People Mover, Ebitrack 400 and the Micronome timer.
