Railway Signalling and Control Systems (RSCS)
Professional Development Course
21 - 24 May 2012 | Strand Palace Hotel, London
About the course
The Railway Signalling and Control Systems (RSCS) Professional Development Course is a four day tutorial presented by expert lecturers who have worked on railway systems around the world.
The programme of this well-established course is updated year on year to provide you with the most up-to-date contemporary training on signalling and control systems.
Background
Signalling and Control Systems have developed significantly over the past decade with processor-based solutions now widespread in all aspects of modern mainline, heavy metro and light rail applications. Investment in railways is targeted to provide increased train service capacity in combination with higher levels of safety.
Railway signal and control systems have a major part to play in these plans. However, the railway industry continues to change, both organisationally in its regulation and technically with projects such as the implementation of the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) in Britain.
It is vital that engineers are able to understand the fundamental design and assurance requirements of modern safety signalling and control systems as well as the acceptance or regulatory regimes in place.
In system applications, the role of the human must be analysed in the context of the railway service to be operated and appropriate levels of system integration provided. Engineers must also understand the need for maintenance and the life-cycle of the systems used on the railway.
What the course covers
This course addresses both signalling and signalling control systems as well as their associated sub-systems, together with the major system and sub-system interfaces.
Covering the principal aspects in depth, the course makes an ideal start for anyone moving into train control engineering, both for graduate engineers and more experienced engineers looking to add to their knowledge base.
- Learn about the building blocks of signalling fundamentals, modern systems of today and plans for the future in a structured way
- Take part in a course specifically tailored to those who are new to train control engineering
- Hear from acknowledged experts – the course speakers are all leading professionals in their subjects
- Technical – and social – visit included within the cost of attendance aimed at enhancing your knowledge of the area – and providing an informal networking environment
Attendees will
- Understand the fundamental design and assurance requirements of modern safety signalling and control systems
- Gain an in depth knowledge of the acceptance and regulatory regimes in place
- Analyse the role of the human in the context of the railway service to be operated and the appropriate levels of system integration required
- Cover both the signalling and signalling control systems as well as their associated sub systems together with the major system and sub-system interfaces
