Writing an abstract
Abstracts should not be longer than two A4 pages.
Abstracts should be submitted using the abstract template, be accompanied by a signed copyright form. The deadline for abstracts will be in spring 2010. The exact date will be published shortly. (For the sector and topic guide please see the Call for papers page).

Important information
- The working language of the conference is English, which will be used for all printed material, presentations and discussion
- The abstract template is a Microsoft Word file. Please save this template file to your PC’s hard drive and use it when you prepare your abstract
- If you are submitting more than one abstract you can use the same email address and password for each abstract when submitting to the on-line system
- Abstracts are required for all papers and posters and should be submitted using the template provided
- Each abstract must fit within the abstract template and use the Arial font size 11
- Length - Up to a maximum of two A4 pages (you may include diagrams)
- Special characters - when inserting special characters in text use the ‘Insert Symbol’ function (avoid code-numbers for the symbols).
Before submitting your abstract
Make sure you have the following material and information:
- Title, all authors’ names, affiliations and a 35 word (approx) biography. If your title and abstract contains no special characters, and no sub or sup scripts, the text can be copied and pasted from your Word document or typed in directly
- Your extended abstract of no more than two pages, including title, names, affiliations and abstract in Word format file size maximum 2.0 MB.
- Preferred topic area from the call for papers page of the website (the Technical Programme Committee reserves the right to change the authors' choice of topic area)
Once you have the information above you can proceed with the electronic submission of your abstract. The facility to submit your abstract will be available prior to the submission deadline.
After submitting your abstract
On submission of your abstract the corresponding author will receive a confirmation e-mail via the electronic submission system.
Following the review of abstracts, successful authors will be invited to submit a full paper to the System safety Organising Committee.
