Welcome to the IET International System Safety Conference 2010 website. This year we hold the 5th conference in Manchester which is an exciting and vibrant city boasting fantastic amenities and offering a warm welcome to all who visit. In the current financial climate I know that all organizations and individuals have to think hard about allocating their limited funds to conferences therefore our aim is to ensure that we provide maximum value for money for all delegates at System Safety 2010.

Having seen the quality of the papers submitted to the conference, from many different countries and industry sectors, the technical programme this year is impressive.  We’ve lined up some outstanding Keynote Speakers and a wide variety of tutorials, papers, posters and panel discussions which should provide plenty of interest and added value.

There will also be lots of opportunities during the conference for networking with other safety professionals; in particular we have a drinks reception on the first evening which has proven very popular in the past. Of course no conference would be a success without the delegates so I hope that you’ll be able to join us in Manchester for what promises to be an interesting and invaluable experience for all safety professionals.

Benefit from our experts' practical experience

The conference organising committee is delighted to present a comprehensive programme and thank the authors and organisations involved in systems safety for their contribution to this year's event. We anticipate inspiring presentations and sessions where experts can share examples of best practice and practical experience, in meeting the challenges of dealing with new technologies, increasingly complex systems, emerging methods and standards.
