Accepted papers

Each paper must have at least one author registered by Friday 1 June 2012, to avoid the paper being withdrawn from the conference proceedings. Authors presenting two or more papers must pay the additional paper fee. The author must be present at the conference to present the submission either orally or by poster presentation.

You are reminded that the IET or other associated societies cannot meet any travelling or subsistence expenses for authors, either prior to or during the conference.

 

Presentation information

Each author presenting an oral paper will be asked to submit PowerPoint slides in advance of the conference to eventsa2@theiet.org. Authors will be asked to include their unique paper number with their email. The slides will be loaded onto the lecture theatre computer prior to the relevant session. Delegates should bring a copy of their slides on USB stick with them to the conference as a back-up.

If you PowerPoint presentation is larger than 10Mb please send it via www.yousendit.com this is a free service and will enable us to receive large files and presentations.

Please submit your PowerPoint slides by no later than Thursday 14 June 2012. Presentations should last no longer than twenty-five minutes and time for questions from the audience should be included.

This agreement relates to all the material published concerning the Wireless Sensor Systems Conference 2012 such as, but not limited to, conference proceedings, presentation slides or other electronic forms. Please note that part or all of the conference may be filmed for IET.tv

In submitting a copyright form for a submitted paper to the Wireless Sensor Systems 2012, the authors assign copyright ownership of the submitted work to The IET, this assignment to be effective as of the day of submission of the completed copyright form. The copyright form must be signed by one of the authors.

The IET shall have the right to register copyright to the article in its name as claimant, whether separately or as part of another medium in which such work is included. Also, The IET shall have the right to grant reprint permission to third parties and to receive reasonable royalties in such instances.

 

Authors reserve the following rights:

  • The right to use all or portions of the submitted article in future works of their own
  • All proprietary rights, such as patent right

 

If a copyright form is not received, copyright will be assigned to the corresponding author’s affiliation.

Processing and publication of personal data

The personal information we receive from delegates will also be required after the conference. This is in order to render an account of the conclusions arrived at during the conference, for statistical purposes, and for the dispatch of information on relevant conferences in the future.

Personal data will be stored by the IET for future mailings and information on forthcoming conferences. Personal data may also, in certain cases, be released to other companies participating in the conference for the distribution of information and offers directly from them.

  

Topic areas

The WSS 2012 organising committee welcomed contributions in the general areas of wireless sensor systems and distributed systems.

Submitted papers were invited from research concepts and ideas to technical issues and industrial applications.

Contributions are encouraged from, but not limited to, the themes and topics in the following areas:

  • Innovative architectures for new developments of sensors and actuators
  • Cooperative wireless sensor systems, clustering and beamforming
  • Unstructured networking, ad hoc networking, relaying and ubiquitous access
  • Sensor intelligence, data processing, multi agent systems
  • Spectrum sensing systems, cognitive radio and spectrum sharing networks
  • Scarce resource management, energy harvesting and cross layer techniques senor use of cloud computing, middleware and distributed intelligence
  • Sensor integration of barcode technology, RFID, smart metering, remote control and the Internet-of-Things (“IoT”)
  • New applications sensors in healthcare, surveillance and traffic
  • New applications sensors in smart home, smart office and smart ambient
  • Applications of WSS for observation of global resources and monitoring geological activities weather and toxins
