During an uplifting and inspirational ceremony in London, the BBC’s Steph McGovern, revealed that Naomi Mitchison, a Senior Hardware Engineer at Selex ES, has been awarded the title of IET Young Woman Engineer of the Year 2014.
Lucy Ackland, Project Manager – Additive Manufacturing, Renishaw Plc was awarded the WES Prize and Jessica Bestwick, Higher Technical Apprentice, Rolls Royce Plc, the Mary George Memorial Prize for Apprentices.
The remaining finalists Hannah Pearlman, a Cooling Systems Engineer with Ford and Laurie-Ann Marshall, Apprentice Circuit Engineer at ABB Ltd, also received certificates for their achievements on stage.
During the ceremony the guests were also treated to highly enlightening addresses from Linda Miller, Farringdon Station Project Manager, Bechtel, and host Steph McGovern, who shared her experiences of engineering with the audience.
