Engineering Horizons Bursary
A number of bursaries worth up to £4,000 are available to apprentices and undergraduate students. IET Engineering Horizons Bursaries are supported by the IET, charitable foundations and engineering companies.
|Our bursary is aimed at apprentices and students who may face, or have faced, challenges or personal obstacles.|
|You will have a passion for engineering and be keen to help promote engineering to others.|
|Our bursary is designed to help you if you’re struggling with money. Examples of how it might be used include going towards buying books, a computer or even transport for your work or education.|
|You could be doing a Degree Apprenticeship – if the degree is IET accredited, you may apply as student; if your apprenticeship scheme is IET approved, you may apply as an apprentice.|
|IET Engineering Horizons Bursaries are for UK residents only.|
|Please note: If you have an IET Engineering Horizons Bursary supported by an engineering company, you cannot hold another company-sponsored scholarship such as IET Power Academy, E3 Academy, UKESF, GCHQ and BP. Annual award of £1,000 per year, for the duration of the apprenticeship (up to 4 years).
Annual award of £1,000 per year for the duration of the degree, up to 3 years for Bachelors students and 4 years for MEng students.
Opportunity to be supported by a company donor, with engagement and placement opportunities.
|All bursary-holders will receive free Student/Apprentice membership of the IET for the remaining years of their apprenticeship or degree course if not already received through their IET Approved Apprenticeship scheme or as an IET Academic Partner with their university.|
|All bursary-holders will benefit from advice and information from the IET on Engineering Technician (EngTech) or ICT Technician (ICTTech) registration and also technician professional registration application fee, when ready to apply, as well as support with Incorporated Engineer (IEng) and Chartered Engineer (CEng) professional registration.|
|All winners will be supported to become ambassadors for the IET and Engineering profession|
How to Apply

- Complete the online application form by clicking on the button.
- Changes to your application form can be made at any time up until the deadline.
Submitting your application
Register as a new user on the online submission system
- Enter the Engineering Horizons Bursary online submission system.
- Register as a new user: fill in the “Create a New Account” field.
- Use the details that you have entered whenever returning to the system.
Completing the online entry form
- Login to the submission system.
- Follow the on-screen instructions and complete all fields.
- Complete all fields within the application form.
- Once all fields are complete, you will be sent a confirmation email containing your submission reference number. Please use this reference number in all future correspondence with the organisers.

The IET Engineering Horizons Bursary scheme is supported by the IET, charitable foundations and engineering companies. If you are awarded an IET Bursary you will be expected to be an Ambassador for the IET and the engineering profession and to sign Terms and Conditions.

David Family Foundation is a family foundation who enable people experiencing disadvantage to get further in life through artistic culture, education and medical support. The foundation has a particular focus to support people who are struggling to fulfil their potential because of physical or mental ill health, financial disadvantage or prejudice. They do this through grants, bursaries and ongoing relationships with other charities.
The Engineers Trust is the charitable trust of the Worshipful Company of Engineers, a London Livery Company. The charity acknowledges excellence in engineering, supports engineering education and research, gives grants and assists in the support of hardship experienced by engineers, particularly whilst in education. The Trust Fund gives annual awards and prizes to support and encourage excellence amongst qualified engineers and those training to be Chartered Engineers, Incorporated Engineers and engineering Technicians.

The Manly Trust's primary objective is to advance the science of engineering by granting financial assistance to organisations that encourage an interest in STEM subjects amongst young people or that promote or provide education in engineering.
Mr & Mrs Tubbs are supporting candidates from ideally one of the following regions: Ebbw Vale, Tredegar or Beaufort and Cwm, Brynmawr in Blaenau Gwent, Clydach, Abergavenny in Monmouthshire or other areas of the South Wales Valleys.
